DIY camper building is a craft in itself.
Converting a vehicle into a home on wheels, creature comforts included.
Building A DIY Camper
The DIY approach can take many forms – whether building from scratch or sourcing a setup to install yourself. The goal remains the same – improving livability while retaining the capability of any given truck, van, or vehicle.
Our current build started from scratch, constructing a fiberglass mold around a westfalia-inspired camper (you know, those timeless pop-tops outfitted to VW busses).
It tested the limits of our DIY capabilities, but this camper top concept soon came to life on an early 2000’s Jeep Cherokee. We’ve gotten a handful of requests and questions around the build. Some interested in learning to build a camper top themselves. Others, looking to purchase and install a production top for a given vehicle.
